Week 7 - Eve Portrait

Week 7 brings my first ever portrait! My lovely girlfriend Eve was the model.

Week 6 - Winter Bridge

This photo was taken during the recent snowy weekend.  The picture was of a small wooden bridge which crosses a small 'lake' in a local park.

The image has been post processed in photoshop using 100 layers!  You can find the technique using google, however feel free to contact me if you need talking through - if there's enough interest I will blog the details.

Week 5 - Country Barn

Week 5 brings a picture of an empty barn in Hambledon, Oxfordshire.

The picture has been processed to make it look like a painting.  To see the effect, the picture is best viewed in one of the larger sizes.

Week 4 - Turqoise Tumble

For week 4 I borrowed my Dad's Canon 100mm F2.8 L USM Macro lens - I'm in LOVE!!  I seriously need to get one of those in my camera bag!

The shot is of a crystal tumbler which was setup in front of a white background and was lit using a ex480 speedlite from the left hand side.  The shot was white when taken and the colour was added in post production.

Week 3 - Country Walk

Week 3 of 52 brings a lovely picture taken in the Chilterns region in South East England.

This photo was taken just as the sun was starting to set and as we were walking into it.  The contrast was high which made this a tricky shot to take and process as noise wanted to creep in.  In regards to the post processing, it involved my usual workflow of exposure, recover, noise reduction and curves.

Week 2 - Industrialism in Motion

Week 2 took me to Slough industrial estate to capture some urban images.  This is the image I choose to represent me in week 2 (of 52).

The image was taken with my Canon 500d and 17-85mm lens.  Two images were stacked together as I wanted additional light trails that a single exposure couldn't give me.  Other than that, post processing was minimal with only some curve adjustment and an exposure adjustment in the sky.

One a week - Week 1

I've been into photography for a year now and have a DSLR with several lenses.  I thought it time to get some discipline and do a photography challange.  However (!), I'm too lazy/busy to do 1 a day, so have elected to do 1 a week with a view of creating a photo book at the end of the year.  If I get any interest I may also post details about my kit and give some 1st hand user reveiws.

Now, onto the 1st picture.  Week One - 1 of 52.

The 1st picture is a visual representation of the year ahead.  The photo was taken with my Canon 500d and a 50mm 1.8 lens set to F2.8.  This picture has also been uploaded to my flickr page which can be viewed here - www.flickr.com/ollerton57
